TALISAY DRRM OFFICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS (SEPTEMBER 2019 TO AUGUST 2022)

TALISAY DRRM – EMS (EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES)

More commonly known as Ambulance Service, from September of 2019 to this August of 2022, we have catered to 8,076 patients suffering from either medical, trauma cases or injuries from vehicular accidents. 1, 652 of these runs were Covid19 emergencies.

TALISAY DRRM – FIRE AND WATER LOGISTICS SERVICES

The Truck has responded to 94 Metro fires not only in our locality but to our neighboring LGUs in Cebu. The crew has also catered to 456 water deliveries to the different barangays who are in dire need of water supply.

TALISAY DRRM – TRAINING SERVICES

Our DRRM staff were trained in emergency medical services, basic and advance fire fighting, search and locating, rope rescue and DRR management by our certified instructors in the LDRRM office.

Among the wayward plans of the LDRRMO is the training and capacitating of force multipliers from the 22 barangays of the City of Talisay which is already underway with eight (8) barangays having already participated and have formed their own respective rescue teams that will serve as first responders in the event of an emergency in their own backyard.

TALISAY DRRM – RECOGNITIONS

Talisay LDRRMO Team bagged the over-all champion in the recently concluded Danao Inter-City Invitational Rescue Competition last July 2022 gaining the Best response in the Mass Casualty Incident category.

Talisay LDRRM Office and Council was one of the 5 LGUs among the 52 LGUs in Cebu to have received recognition from the Office of the Civil Defense, Region VII for having fully complied with the National Gawad Kalasag Standards of LDRRM Office and Council.

The office has also complied all qualification requirements set by the DILG on Disaster Preparedness which is one of the highlighted criteria in the SGLG (Seal of Good Local Governance).

TALISAY DRRM – QUALITIES

These accomplishments were achieved by the DRRM Office amidst the Pandemic, Typhoon Odette, the recent floods and landslides mainly because of the dynamic and proactive leadership of our Mayor SamSam Gullas and the seamless collaborative efforts of each of the DRRM Council Members in keeping the City of Talisay safe.

Despite everyday challenges met by the Talisay DRRMO, either natural or manmade by origin, every staff and personnel always sees to it that the one basic quality of having HIV is maintained:

H– Heart to Serve

I-Interest to Learn, and

V-Volunteerism

DRRM – PRIORITIES

To address the Hazard of Flooding, Storm surge and Typhoons, the proposed installation of Early Warning System that will warn the residents along rivers and coastal areas to prompt them to evacuate to safe grounds during an impending threat of hazard are among the priority life saving project of Talisay DRRMO.

Also on the list is equipping the LDRRM Rescue Team with the appropriate life saving devices to compensate the trained manpower resources of LDRRMO when responding to emergencies.

Included also in our plan is the completion of our ongoing community responders training in basic rescue courses which will serve as force multipliers of the city DRRMO and first responders in their own barangays.
